Besides the many free activities and fee-based courses and events, members can drop by Brock House to play a game of billiards in the Billiard Room or croquet on the lawn, make use of the art room and pottery kiln, do a daily crossword or Sudoku, or read a newspaper, novel or book in our well-stocked library.
There are also numerous other perks and benefits:
Whittaker cafeteria
Our cafeteria is a warm, inviting place where you can grab lunch or coffee with friends. Menus are published monthly in the Gallimaufry newsletter, posted on this website, or you can pick them up in the cafeteria on your next visit. You can also take a break from cooking with one of our low-cost take-home meals. You can bring up to three guests to the cafeteria each day but remember to sign them in at the front desk first.
Library
On the second floor, we have a well-stocked library with magazines, three daily newspapers, and a wide variety of books, including large print editions for our members’ enjoyment. We have an up-to-date selection that changes regularly. In addition, there are binders with information on seniors’ living; minutes of the monthly Board of Directors’ meetings are also available.
Computer lab
Our computer room is equipped with nine PC laptops. Need help using them? Drop by on Monday afternoons for assistance.
Free Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi is also available to our on-site members. To get the password, drop by the computer room on Monday afternoons or visit the office upstairs.
Weekly email updates
Don’t want to miss anything? We email updates on coming events to all members weekly.
Newsletter: The Gallimaufry
The Gallimaufry is our monthly newsletter, chock-a-block full of news and information for and about our members and events. You can receive it by email (at no charge), buy a copy from our front desk greeter or in the office (for 25 cents), or purchase an annual subscription and have it mailed to your home ($20).
Indoor pursuits: Table tennis, billiards and board games
We have both table tennis and billiards available in our basement. Members can also sign out various board games from our office.
Outdoor recreation
We offer croquet, biking, hiking, pole walking and more.
Fully equipped woodworker shop
We have a well-equipped woodworking shop, a bonus for seniors who may no longer have their own. Located in the building along the east property line, it’s a very busy place where members work on their own projects or create beautiful pieces for sale at our summer and winter fairs.
Free parking
Members may park free, during business hours only, onsite or at assigned parking on the east side of the Jericho Beach parking lot.
